The Firm
The Law Offices of Elda S. James was founded in 1990.
The office was originally based in Springfield, Massachusetts,
and primarily served western Massachusetts communities and residents
until 1994 when a second office was opened in the Greater Boston
area.
Because of an overriding personal and professional interest in
serving the Haitian community of the Greater Boston area, Attorney
James consolidated the Springfield and Boston offices in 1996 and the
firm moved its base of operations to its current location in
Dorchester, Massachusetts.
The Law Offices of Elda S. James is multilingual with fluency
in English, French, and Kreyol (Haitian Creole), and a working
knowledge of Spanish.

The Practice
The Law Offices of Elda S. James focuses primarily on the

The law firm's office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.
to 5:30 p.m. Appointments can also be arranged for Saturday
mornings.
An answering service is employed to provide coverage for all
periods when the office is closed.

The Managing Attorney
Elda S. James was born in Petionville, Haiti. She attended high
school in the United States, then graduated from the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
psychology.
Following completion of undergraduate work, Attorney James
enrolled at Western New England College School of Law in Springfield,
Massachusetts, and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree.
Before founding this law firm Attorney James served from
1984-1990 as Senior Trial Attorney for the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. She worked in
the CPCS office located in Springfield, Massachusetts, but interacted
with CPCS offices located throughout the state, including the central
office in Boston.
In that capacity with CPCS Attorney James represented indigent
defendants involved in the state criminal justice system. Her trial
experience with CPCS, as well as her private practice experience,
includes a number of capital murder cases.
